Advanced CanSkate is a program that helps skaters who are working on CanSkate levels 4-6. This program continues development of three core areas to enhance their recreational or hockey or ringette skating skills.
Skaters will be grouped based on skill level in order to create the most efficient learning groups.
This group is for skaters that have achieved Level 2 CanSkate. Focus will be on proper skill development of power and use of edges. Three core areas - Agility, Balance and Control.
Skaters can choose to wear full hockey equipment or not. It is a personal choice.
Skills - Quick turns, 360 degree step turn, 1 ft turn, 360 degree glide turn, tight glide turns, 180 degree step turns and 2 ft reverse pivot turns.
Skills - crosscuts, slalom, v starts, edges, running lateral crossovers, crossover acceleration. Fwds and Bwds 2 ft and 1 ft for most skills.
Skills - Stops, fwd and bwd, inside and outside edges and 2ft and 1 ft foot, sculling, slalom, circle thrusts, speed and glides, 1ft fwd and bwd.
